PROFESSIONAL BIO
Educating the Next Generation

Going to college was new for my family. I was fortunate enough to be accepted to Purdue. I graduated from Purdue University with a degree in Elementary Education. After graduating I returned to my home roots in Benton Community with a job at Boswell Elementary. This was a part time job and I next found myself full-time at the elementary I attended as a child, Otterbein Elementary. Here I taught three years where I learned so much from veteran teachers of 15-20+ years.
I then had our first child in which I started to wonder about childcare. We worked things out so that I was able to stay home with our children. After leaving my full-time job I started to realized I really missed working with young children. I decided to open two after school program for students. One program was tutoring for students who needed some one-on-one help. This group was so fun because I was able to tutor to meet students needs while trying to help them enjoy learning. This was something I always saw a need for as a teacher in the elementary school. The second program I brought to our area was First Lego League. This is a STEM program helping teach students programing. However, it was much more than that. Students learned how to build a robot, program it, and work with each other to solve a problem. This includes learning the Scientific Process and carrying it out. Whew, I am passionate about this one as it shapes the generation of our future and heads them on the path we are headed towards.
We then moved eleven hours north to Minnesota for my husbands job at Angies Boom Chicka Pop. This was a great experience for our girls as it was for our small family. We returned to our roots after two years north. While up North I had struggled with what to do for our first born for preschool. This seemed a really challenging choice for me. I researched different preschool options for hours on end. Not finding one where I agreed with the academics, the morals, etc.
This is when I started to research education options for this age. I believe at this young age their needs to be a good level of education, but a lot of play. Rather this be imaginative play, physical play, or hands on motor play. So when we moved back I decided to try and offer this in a space I used previously. This is what brought me to opening a preschool. Please see my Courses page to learn all about my preschool.
